Would you have known?
The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 24 January as the International Day of Education. To recognise the role of education in peace and development.
However, access to education is still limited – especially for children with deafblindness. Deafblind International and the World Federation of the Deafblind have just outlined the poor situation. And: demanded that the right to education of ALL children with deafblindness be respected with immediate effect.
Tanne fully supports the statement. Unfortunately, the educational situation in Switzerland is also unsatisfactory. There is still a lot to do.
Tanne will therefore be launching a new campaign together with other stakeholders in the spring. It aims to ensure that children with deafblindness can benefit from specific support throughout Switzerland – as inclusively as possible. More on this later.
